Frequently Asked Questions

DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM MY DOCTOR?

No referral is necessary to participate in physiotherapy treatment.  Patients should check the details of their extended health benefit plans.   Some plans do require a physician's referral in order to get treatment costs reimbursed.

HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT SESSION TAKE AND HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS DO I NEED?

Initial Assessments are 1-hour long.  Follow up treatments range from 30-minutes to 1-hour.  All appointments are one-on-one with your therapist.   The number of sessions needed depends on your condition.  This is discussed with your therapist as part of your individual treatment plan and goals.

WHAT HAPPENS AT MY APPOINTMENTS?

At your initial visit, your therapist conducts an interview and a physical assessment.  This is followed with treatment.  Treatment at InsideOut is personalized to your specific needs.  It will involve education on your injury and how to optimize recovery.  Manual therapy, physical modalities (acupuncture, ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation), and exercise prescription are incorporated as needed.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?

We ask our patients to wear clothing appropriate to the type and area of injury.  Please bring any test results or reports you feel might be helpful.   If your condition is related to a Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA), we require your case manager's name and contact information, your claim number, and extended health benefits information.

DOES INSURANCE COVER MY TREATMENT?

If you have extended health benefits or have been injured as a result of an automobile accident, then you may qualify for covered treatment. If you are using extended health benefits, check the details of your coverage with your Health Care provider. OHIP coverage for physiotherapy services (government-funded physiotherapy) is only available at OHIP licensed facilities for Ontario residents under the age of 18 or over 65.   InsideOut is not an OHIP clinic.
